Your continued prayers for healing for Fr Walter Collins, retired priest of the Diocese, are invited. He remains in the hospital under doctor’s care for cancer and the complications that come with it. Please keep his wife, Alice, in your prayers as well.

Your continued prayers for recovery from heart surgery and patience with the recovery process are invited for Fr Paul Bailey, Rector, Christ Church, Herkimer. He is chomping at the bit, but his body is saying "whoa, not so fast." Please keep his wife, Pat, in your prayers as well.

Coming Events:

Hope in Healing: A Christian Divorce Support Group – Starting Thursday, August 7. This group will meet weekly and have monthly guests. Second Annual Chili Cook-Off – part of the Bible Conference on Saturday, August 16.

Bring your chili with you in a crock pot on the day of the conference.
Bring all chili to the Welcome Center Dining Room before the conference begins.

Prizes awarded for: HOTTEST and BEST TASTING chilis

Competition will be held at lunchtime and winners will be announced at the end of the conference. Bp Love is entering again this year and he does make a mean pot of chili.

Act 4 Him Bible Drama. The regularly scheduled healing service on August 19 at the Spiritual Life Center will feature Act 4 Him, a husband-and-wife drama ministry team. Matthew Zawisza will perform his one-man biblical drama "Joseph." Service begins at 10:00 am in the Christ the King Chapel at the Spiritual Life Center.

"Light in the Darkness, Darkness within the Light" a silent retreat at St. Mary’s Convent
Friday, August 29 – Monday, September 1. This is a three-day silent retreat based on the three-fold way of classic Christian spiritual direction, led by Sister Mary Elizabeth. Cost is $207 per person. To register, please contact Mother Miriam at 518-692-3028 or email her here.

Crying Out To God...The role of fasting, intercession and corporate prayer for the renewal of the church. This one day conference is Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (check-in at 8:30). Cost is $15 per person, which includes lunch and all conference materials. This conference will be led by Fr Alan Hansen, Acts 29 and is co-sponsored by the Diocese, Christ Church, Coxsackie, Trinity Church, Lansingburgh, Christ Church, Schenectady, and St. Andrew’s, Scotia. If you would like to become a co-sponsor, call Lorraine.

Postulant and Candidates Retreat is September 12 – 14 at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center. Retreat begins with worship and dinner Friday evening and concludes Sunday with lunch. Watch for details from Archdeacon Huth.

Clergy Conference is September 24 - 26 at Christ the King Spiritual Life Center. Conference is open to all clergy and their spouses and begins with worship and dinner on Wednesday evening and concludes with lunch on Friday. Registration information will be mailed after Bishop Love returns from Lambeth.
