Teens Mission to Ireland, July 1-14, 2009
For many years, the Diocese of Albany sent a team of young missionaries to our companion diocese, the Diocese of Down and Dromore, in Ireland. We are renewing this mission trip and inviting teens, ages 15 - 19, to join us. Our journey will take us from the streets of Belfast for Summer Madness, a Christian festival for teens, to Dublin for mission and outreach opportunities and beyond. This will be not only a mission that transforms the hearts of our teens, but also an exciting time of fun and cross-cultural ministry.
Our team will be limited to 15 teens and 6 adults. We are seeking teens and adults who have a heart for Jesus Christ and for missions. This is not intended as a fun trip oversees, but as a transforming spiritual journey.
We will be holding our first organizational meeting on Saturday, November 8th, 2 pm at the Spiritual Life Center. Anyone interested in being a part of this overseas mission is highly encouraged to come to this initial interest meeting along with at least one parent. Participants will apply to be on this missions team. Applications are required because we are looking for individuals open to God's transforming power in their lives and there are very limited space and many, many folks interested in going.
The expected cost of the Missions trip is $1850. We will be discussing various opportunities for fundraising and partnerships to provide financial assistance for the trip. We have set up an informational and team membership site for this trip on Facebook. To access this site go to www.facebook.com and search for the group Albany teen mission trip to Ireland July 2009. You can also e-mail me with any questions you may have regarding the trip here.
