For the Episcopal Diocese of Albany Parish Leadership Conference, Spring 2020 we seek to disseminate and model the most recent materials for the Alpha Course from Holy Trinity Brompton in London. This formerly dying parish has been at the center of a thriving renewal movement in the Anglican Communion. Its Alpha Course, which serves as an introduction to Christian faith, has been developed over the last 40 years, and enjoyed by more than 24 million people throughout the Anglican Communion and in other denominations. At the conference we will model the simple formula of good food, a good joke, an engaging song, high quality short films introducing faith, and gracious conversation. We will see some of the recently made films shared over the 14-session Alpha course, which model winsome, honest, humble, personal and theologically essential faith sharing, freely offered without expectations. Leaders from some of the parishes in the Diocese of Albany who have been enjoying Alpha in their parishes will share some of the fruits of their experiences and describe how Alpha has been able to speak authentically into this cultural moment.
Newer, optional “After Alpha” programs that have been developed for youth, marriage and parenting will also be discussed. The day will end with the celebration of the Eucharist.
The team delivering the 3 iterations of the conference will consist of Father Paul Hart, Father Nixon Macmillan, Fr. Derick Roy, Deacon Lynn Curtis, Father Dave Haig, and Father Scott Evans.
The day begins at 8:30 am with sign-in and ends at 3:45 pm.
