Bishop Visitation Checklist

Some considerations for your visit

  • The bulletin for this service should be sent to Abigail Jordan, Executive Secretary to the Bishop, no later than the Monday prior to the Bishop’s visit.
  • This form is due 2 weeks prior to the Bishop’s visit.
  • If you typically have two services, please consider combining them for the Bishop’s visit.
  • It is helpful to the Bishop to have an assigned Chaplain.  The Bishop’s Chaplain is expected to meet the Bishop when he arrives (typically at least 30 minutes before the liturgy) and help carry in those things required for the visitation.  The Chaplain will also attend to the Bishop during the liturgy.
  • If your parish has any traditions not specifically in the rubrics of the Book of Common Prayer please be sure to explain those in the “Additional Information” section at the bottom of the form.
  • It is customary to make a gift (or give the morning’s loose offering) to the Bishop’s Discretionary Fund. Checks can be made out to the Episcopal Diocese of Albany with “Bishop’s Discretionary Fund” in the memo line.
  • If you are providing a meal or reception, please note the Bishop is allergic to shellfish and does not eat red meat. The Bishop’s wife, Pastor Jennifer Williamson, is gluten free.

If you have any questions, please contact Abigail Jordan, Executive Secretary to the Bishop at 518-692-3350.
