Deacons’ Retreat

When you were ordained a deacon, you were called to a special role as a servant in Christ’s church. This call comes in the midst of other commitments including family and career. That is why I am so pleased to invite you to the annual Diocesan Deacons’ Retreat to be held at Christ the King Center in Greenwich, NY November 12-13, 2021. The retreat team is focused on providing you a time of rest, refreshment and nourishment for mind, body and spirit. In essence, we invite you to be our guest, take a break from serving and allow us to serve you. The cost is completely covered by our diocese.

The retreat will start on Friday with check-in at 3:00 PM at the Welcome Center. Upon arrival there will be refreshments, raffle prizes, networking, and time for you to settle into room before we begin with Worship & Evening Prayer at 5:30pm.  The retreat will conclude with a Closing Eucharist on Saturday Afternoon, with special guest The Rt. Rev. Michael Smith, Assisting Bishop of the Diocese of Albany. Those who wish to stay for dinner on Saturday, or even another night, are more than welcome. We recognize that many of you have commitments at your parishes, so the formal program will end on Saturday. Be Our Guest Schedule (PDF)

Our retreat theme, “Be Our Guest: A Retreat for Rest and Refreshment in the Presence of Christ,” will be our focus as we spend time together in worship and fellowship. Our teaching sessions will include reflection on finding both rest and strength in Christ as we carry on in ministry and service.  We will also be renewed and refreshed by worship, praise music, small group discussion, quiet reflection and meditation.  We will have clergy available for private confession and reconciliation and healing prayer teams as well.  Not only that, but we will also have some fun and creative activities for your enrichment.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact me at mkeegan@albanydiocese.org or 518-692-3350.

This is a wonderful opportunity for us to come together as a community of servants and to prepare ourselves in mind and spirit for another year of service in His ministry.  I look forward to seeing you at the retreat.
