Eye Care Assistance

eyeglasses with black frame beside macbook proIn 2003, a bequest was made by the Austin family which resulted in the establishment of a special fund created exclusively for eye care. In compliance with the bequest, interest from the fund is to be used to offer assistance in the form of grants to indigent persons, regardless of faith, who require eye care and unable to afford necessary related services and reside within the 19 counties of the Diocese. This care includes eye examinations, purchase of eye glasses, medications for treatment of eye disorders and surgical procedures or the purchase of special equipment to restore or maintain normal vision. Eligibility for assistance is not limited to members of Diocesan parishes. It also includes families, friends and others in need of eye care, providing they reside within the 19 counties of the Diocese of Albany.
