The Rev. Ivan Ruiz-Swartz is the Rector of St. James Episcopal Church in Oneonta, New York. Originally from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania of a Mexican American background. He is an Episcopal priest with a passion for preaching, pastoral care, Christian formation, and community engagement, Fr. Ivan brings experience in parish ministry, nonprofit leadership, and outreach. Formed in both the Roman Catholic and Episcopal traditions, he is committed to helping individuals and congregations grow in faith, deepen their life in Christ, and build vibrant Christian communities. Fr. Ivan holds a Diploma in Anglican Studies from Sewanee: The University of the South and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, as well as Philosophy and Theological education within the Roman Catholic tradition. He enjoys cooking, travel, theology, and spending time with his husband, Jason, and their two pugs, Leo and Diego.
