Amsterdam, St. Ann's

St. Ann’s, Amsterdam, has a history of ministering to the greater Amsterdam area for over 300 years.  In 1702, five Sachems of the Mohawk Nation met with the governor to plead with Queen Anne that she “be a good mother, and send them someone to teach them religion.” In 2012 we marked the 300th Anniversary of the founding of Queen Anne Chapel, the first Anglican outpost towards the west, located where the Schoharie Creek flows into the Mohawk River, subsequently named Fort Hunter.  The ministry was to its current location in 1851 with an expansion and dedication in 1888.  Our mission is to “connect people with Jesus Christ for the transformation of our lives, families, and communities.”
