The Rev. Jo Page received a Master of Fine Arts in Writing from the University of Virginia and a Masters of Divinity from United Lutheran Seminary in Philadelphia where she was a Hoh scholar. She was ordained into the Ministry of Word and Sacrament September 29th, the Feast St. Michael and All Angels, in 1993 and has served congregations in New York’s Capital Region since then. Highlights of her ministry include guiding the congregation of Grace, Niskayuna, as they became the first Reconciling in Christ (open and affirming) congregation in the Upstate New York Synod, serving a federated American Baptist/United Church of Christ congregation as their interim pastor and joyfully serving the people of St. John’s-on-Sand-Creek until July 22. She was the Dean of the Hudson Mohawk Conference – ELCA between 2016 and 2024. Jo Page’s 2016 book, Preaching in My Yes Dress was a finalist for the 2017 Chautauqua prize. Author Margot Livesey describes it as “all the things you hope a good memoir will be: profound, witty, deeply serious, wonderfully original, and utterly absorbing. Page is a remarkably intimate writer and this book offers the best kind of companionship.” A former Writer-in-Residence at the New York State Writers Institute, she was a columnist for over thirty years, writing for Albany’s Metroland Magazine and then the Albany Times Union. She is the mother of two grown daughters, Madeleine and Linnea, one named for the disciple, Mary Magdalene, the other after botanist, Carl Linnaeus.
